Support Programs and Resources

Look Good... Feel Better:
This single session program helps women undergoing cancer treatment learn to manage the appearance changes that may occur. A licensed cosmetologist will teach hands-on makeup techniques, as well as skin and nail care. All participants receive an array of complimentary cosmetics and skin care products. This program was founded by the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association Foundation in partnership with the American Cancer Society and the National Cosmetology Association. It is offered alternating months and is hosted by Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center. Registration is required; please call 1-800-ACS-2345 for dates and times.

Wigs & Accessories:
Recognizing the importance of personal apperance and body image in the recovery process of women with cancer, the American Cancer Society, Patient & Family service Department & Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center have developed and sponsored this program for you. Join us for information on how to select a wig, wig care and how to style scarves. Free new wigs, a wig kit and seasonal hats are available to women who are in need and do not have insurance coverage. Pre-registration is required. Please call the American Cancer Society at 1-800-ACS-2345.

Partners In Healing:
Partners In Healing is a group of cancer survivors who volunteer to provide peer support to patients currently undergoing cancer treatment. These men and women receive specialized training to enhance their communication and listening skills.

The objective of this volunteer program is to match a Partners In Healing volunteer with a patient who has a similar diagnosis or who is in similar circumstances. Volunteers visit with patients at Hunterdon Medical Center, outpatients at Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center, and provide support via telephone.

Patients may request a visit from a Partners In Healing volunteer through their physician, oncology social worker, nurse or any other staff at Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center. If you would like to speak to or receive a visit contact the Partners In Healing Helpline at (908) 788-2527.

For information on how to become a Partner, please call the Partners in Healing Helpline at (908) 788-2527
